E-commerce has become an essential part of our lives, but for a quite long time it lived and developed beyond the law. Here's the time when the Ukrainian Parliament passed the law on the e-commerce. It governs a lot of issues including electronic offers via email.
Spam is a familiar word, but it's been difficult to define it, and there have been no regulatory acts concerning this issue, so everyone interpreted the notion in their own way.
Here are the main requirements to commercial email, if an email does not compile with them, it will be considered to be Spam.
- Commercial email can be sent only to those who have agreed to receive them. Actually, it was evident before the law was passed.
- Commercial emails can be sent to those who have agreed to receive them on condition that there is an opportunity not to get the emails in future. That is actually the main point. The introduction of this point does not change the situation, but the senders will remember to include the link.
- The sender has to be identified.
- The information about prices, discounts, preferences has to be accurate and truthful.
Anyway, the law will be amended and probably it even won't be passed. The good thing is that the term has been defined and its definition is not that frightening.
